Membership Information

The Lancaster Ski Club is a not for profit social club, which was organized in 1946. Membership is approximately 600 people.   The purpose of the club is to promote the sport of skiing and related activities. These include downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and apres ski activities such as hitting the hot tub and wine and cheese parties. Fun club activities do not end when our members take their "boards" off!

The Lancaster Ski Club encourages activities that help members learn-to-ski (or slide!) and demo days. On demo days, members pay a group rate for lift tickets and a bus ride to a resort, and the ski shops and manufacturer reps bring skis and boards to "demo" free-of-charge.   The club schedules "major" ski trips each year, which are usually to the Western United States, Canada and Europe.  Sometimes the club goes "summer skiing" to Chile or New Zealand. The club also runs "weekend" ski trips to the Middle Atlantic and New England States, and "day" trips to Pennsylvania resorts.

Although the ski club is devoted to promoting skiing and related activities, the fun does not stop when the snow melts. Activities throughout the year include a Spring Dance with live music, Bike Rally, Picnic, and our famous Corn Roast in August. We also have a golf outing, Happy Hour gatherings, and many other social events. The club is a great way to meet people and make new friends! The best way to do that is to get involved in club activities and go on trips! The Lancaster Ski Club is an excellent way of participating in a variety of inexpensive social activities, and we are committed to supporting skiers of all levels and ages. If you want to try skiing or snowboarding, joining the club is a great place to start!

MEETINGS

The club holds regular meetings on the third Thursday of each month from September to March.  Meetings are held at the Lancaster Liederkranz Club in Mount Joy (722 S. Chicques Rd., between Salunga and Mount Joy).  The membership meetings begin with a social hour from  7-8 pm, and then a brief business meeting is held. After the business segment of the meeting, a short program, usually of interest or benefit to skiers, is held. Past program topics have included representatives from ski resorts, new technology in skis and boots, ski maintenance, Gore-Tex clothing, post-trip photo parties, 10th Mountain Division of the Army. There are no formal meetings In December when we hold the holiday party, or April when we have the end of the season picture party.
